THE ratings hit series of Married At First UK 2021 is coming back this year for a one-off special

Fan favourites from last year's series will come back to reveal how their lives have changed since marrying a stranger on TV.

Last year, 16 singles put their hearts on the line as they took part in one of the biggest relationship experiments on telly.

One year on, E4 is finding out what happened after the cameras stopped rolling in Married At First Sight: One Year On.

In the one hour special fans will catch up with some of the fan-favourite alumni and will find out the impact of the show and how they’ve navigated life since the experiment finished.

With a baby on the way for one couple – Adam and Tayah – to the reopening of old wounds for others, show bosses are promising an explosive reunion.

Along with reminiscing over their memories, they'll reveal what they’ve learnt and what they’d do differently.

Fans will also be given an exclusive first look at the brand-new series of Married at First Sight UK.

“The hugely loyal viewers of last series' Married at First Sight UK invested so much into the lives of these 16 single people, that it’s only right that they get to see how things have evolved over the past 12-months," said executive Producer, Murray Boland.

"It's certainly going to be a reunion not to miss, One Year On.”

The reunion news comes after The Sun revealed the upcoming series of Married At First Sight UK was thrown into chaos after bosses introduced a shocking new twist.

In a first for the homegrown version of the show, two 'intruder' couples will gatecrash the series halfway through, sending shockwaves through the experiment.

Fans of Married At First Sight Australia will have seen this curveball before, as that version is famed for bringing in new couples later in the series to spice things up.

A source tells The Sun: "Bosses loved how much drama it caused on the Australian show and decided this was the perfect time to bring this twist into the UK version."

And our insider reveals it's created havoc as the two new pairs cause some major fireworks, leaving the rest of the cast who have been there since the beginning of filming reeling.

The source adds: "All hell breaks loose when the new couples come into the show. It was a complete surprise for the other brides and grooms and to say they weren't happy about the blindside is an understatement.

"Some stuff goes down that will make for seriously explosive TV and fans across the country will be talking about the scandals that come out of this genius twist."

A spokesperson for the E4 series confirmed the 'intruder couples' will be part of the new series, telling The Sun: "This year, halfway through the process, two new ‘Intruder’ couples will marry, go on honeymoon and be introduced to the experiment.

This upcoming series of Married At First Sight UK is expected to air in late Summer and will follow the success of the last run, which pulled in 2.4 million viewers.

Experts Mel Schilling, Paul Brunson and Charlene Douglas will return to navigate the couples through the ups and downs of the challenging experiment.

The Sun previously revealed exclusively that the upcoming run will also see TWO same-sex couples join the series.

There will be a lesbian couple and a gay male couple.
