Married At First Sight star Ella Morgan has confirmed producers asked her and JJ Slater to return to the show to continue their romance on screen.

The blonde bombshell left viewers stunned this series when she ended her marriage with Nathanial Valentino to pursue a relationship with JJ. Meanwhile, fans turned their backs on JJ when he decided to abandon his marriage to Bianca Petronzi to explore the "spark" he had with Ella.

But despite the backlash received from fans, Ella has now revealed that their return was orchestrated by producers. Speaking openly on her co-star Tasha Jay's Instagram live recently, Ella revealed all.

Tasha said: "They asked you to come back." Ella replied: "Yes! That’s an exclusive. They asked [us] to come back, we didn’t ask to come back."

Ella then went on to share that JJ and herself did build a genuine connection together outside of the show. She went on to explain that she found it disappointing that it didn't work out when they returned to the E4 show.

Reflecting on the times they shared away from the cameras, she said: "I’ve got pictures of us on the outside and it was amazing because there was no cameras, no microphones. And it does make me a bit sad because it did take me a long time to get over JJ.

"I did the right thing. But it was still hard because I was still attracted to this guy who I thought was good-looking and accepted me.

"If we’d left and not come back, would we still be together? Maybe, but obviously there’s no point in thinking like that. I’ve learnt now that I need more than just acceptance," she added.

Throughout this year's series, eagle-eyed fans have complained that the producers may have had too much influence on the overall show. Heading to X formerly known as Twitter, viewers shared their grievances.

One fan wrote: "Producers, how about next season, you're not so involved and let it flow naturally. Not TOWIE made-up scenes."

While another said: "So insulting that producers and experts believe 'the idiot general public' will just believe all the fakery, poor edits and accept it, as the public just want 'drama'. Actually, we want and respect truth, genuine contestants – not influencers scouted from social media."
