Martine McCutcheonhas spoken out about returning toEastEndersas her iconic character 24 years after she first left.
The actress, 46, played Tiffany Butcher on the BBC soap for four years before her character was killed off on New Year's Eve in 1998.
Since then she’s had stints in Love Actually and Miss Marple, and has been focussing on her career in the music industry.
Speaking toThe Mirror, the actress revealed her thoughts on heading back to Albert Square to take on the role of Tiffany Mitchell and discussed the iconic character's exit from the BBC soap after that memorable episode.
She said: “[Tiffany] went out with a bang – literally.
"If you're going to go, that's the way. If I went back now, it just wouldn’t be the same. I had the time I was meant to have.”
She added that she hopes her career goes in a different direction too: "I’ve been the barmaid, the maid with the biscuits and the maid in At Bertram’s Hotel by Agatha Christie.
"It’d be quite nice to be the lady on screen as well as on stage. That would be really good.”
Despite not returning to BBC, Martine has made a recent return to music with her first album in five years.
The singer's last record, 2017's Lost and Found, reached number 17 in the UK chart, and Martine is putting together a follow-up.
She recently teamed up with her singer-songwriter husband Jack McManus for a track on the Fisherman's Friend One and All film soundtrack and the creative juices are flowing once again.
In an interview withThe Sunshe said: "We’ve literally just started writing new material and writing new music.
"I just want to do what I love, which is a real mixture, singing songs that need a voice to sing them, beautiful lyrics, beautiful melodies, gorgeous production.
"I just want to do great songs and we’ll see what they end up being. I definitely want to perform in front of live audiences again. This full on project of the album will probably be taking up a lot of this year."
She also spoke about her marriage to Jackas the pair celebrated 15 years together – ten of them as husband and wife as they renewed their vows.
In an exclusive interview with OK! about the ceremony, Martine said: “It was probably the most relaxed but wonderful thing we’ve ever done.
“It was in the most beautiful setting and it was the right combination of casual and elegance. The key thing for us was that it was a true celebration of our love, our relationship and our endurance as husband and wife and parents.
“It was important for us that it was intimate, because a lot of our celebrations have been shared with loved ones and friends."
She added: "Don’t get me wrong, we’ve loved doing that, but this time it was just purely for us.”
