BROS singer Matt Goss's best friend has slammed Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood's harsh scoring.

Rob Ferguson – who has been pals with Matt, 54, for 30 years – hit back against how the singer had been scored in the first two shows.

Matt, who is partnered with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova on the BBC dancing competition, has received low scores from the judges since his debut on the show last month.

On Saturday night, after performing a movie-themed Viennese Waltz to Top Gun: Maverick track Hold My Hand, he was awarded just three points from judge Craig, 57.

Rob, who has worked with the singer since the 1980s, hit back: "There is no consistency and no correlation between comments versus votes

"I'm losing my faith in the legitimacy of BBC's Strictly."

After watching from the audience, Rob went on: "I cannot reconcile Craig's descending score for Matt from week one – five, four, three."

"There's no question he has improved. I can't help but think there is an agenda," he added, calling the voting "nonsensical".

Rob concluded that Matt had been "extremely dignified and not made any comment or gripe about the judging".

"He is just digging in and getting on with it like the trooper he is," Rob said.

On Saturday night, Matt was awarded a three from Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood.

Some viewers have suggested Craig and fellow judge Shirley have created a "hate train" towards the popstar with personal remarks, while others have called out Matt's "shy" demeanour.

The When Will I Be Famous hitmaker's loyal contingent are calling for support and love for their idol after the low scores.

One fan argued: "Let's continue to support Matt. I think the #Strictly experience will be good for him."

Another bluntly suggested: "Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood have started the hate train for @mattgoss on social media."

A third then continued: "Agree! Matt Goss is so obviously incredibly shy and awkward and trying to learn to dance in public spite of that. Should be applauded not set upon! #Strictly2022."

It comes after a body language expert revealed that Matt was "beating himself up" after being in the bottom two in week one.

The expert said that he puts on a confident front in the spotlight, but shows gestures that prove he's "uncomfortable" on the show.

Behavioural guru Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Slingo, said: "Matt kept tapping his heart with his left hand – a gesture he makes a lot. This is to unconsciously convey gratitude or thanks.

"Gracious in defeat, Kaye made sure to embrace Matt on her exit, while he was much more reserved in his reaction – again a sign of the pressure he puts on himself.

"We then saw Matt grip onto his partner’s hand and place his other hand in his pocket while watching Kaye’s final dance.

"Both are moves we make to reassure ourselves when we’re not feeling entirely comfortable in a certain situation – it suggests Matt was still beating himself up internally about being in the bottom two, despite having made it through to next week."
