Love Island fans have slammed contestant Sammy Root for 'flirting' with host Maya Jama on Aftersun.

Sammy, 22, appeared on the dating show's sister programme via video link from the villa's Beach Hut, where Islanders can blow off steam.

But fans were quick to bash Root for 'shooting his shot' with the Love Island host, as he couldn't help himself but flirt with Maya.

In a game on the show called Fib or Fact, Jama, 28, asked Sammy if he was ready.

He quickly responded: "Fire away, beautiful."

The audience in the studio then erupted into cheers and woos as the host tried to calm the singleton down, saying "Okay, chill out".

Fans immediately took to social media to hit out at Sammy, who many have said the Islander hadn't shown much interest in his current partner Jess Harding.

One viewer tweeted: "Sammy saying 'fire away beautiful' to Maya. Oh yeah. We know his type, sorry Jess."

Another said: "Sammy just called Maya Jama beautiful on Aftersun, oiii Jess is gonna be fuming when she finds out".

Whilst another joked: "Sammy is dropping game on Maya like she's even going to look twice at him".

On the same episode of Aftersun, guest Sam Thompson appeared to confirm the final date of the show as he accidentally let slip during the live filming.

During his chat with Maya and fellow guest Indiyah Polack, Sam said that new arrival Leah B would only have two and a half weeks to get grafting.

It now means that the show's final is likely to be held during the week beginning the 31st of July, though ITV has not confirmed the final date.

Meanwhile, Maya sent her fans wild as she got a delivery of eggslut, an egg sandwich company from Los Angeles, as she prepared herself for a long night of filming.

Sharing a snap of her food, she revealed she went for classic Bacon, Egg and Cheese, with extra avocados as she posted backstage snaps on her Instagram Story.

She also shared some sneak glimpses behind the scenes as she stole the show in her plunging red dress while laughing with the crew on the set stage.
