Millie Gibson is about to say a final goodbye to Coronation Street after more than three years on the ITV soap, and it’s all getting incredibly emotional.

A Weatherfield regular ever since the summer of 2019, Millie, 18, joined the series as Kelly Neelan, the daughter of Rick and (Greg Wood) and Laura (Kel Allen).

She joined the series after Rick’s death at the hands of Gary Windass (Mikey North), and was eventually fostered by Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo).

Millie’s final episode has not yet aired, but that didn’t stop her and the rest of her fellow Coronation Street castmates from throwing a farewell celebration.

In a statement posted to her Instagram story, the actress said: ‘Now that the news is out about me exiting the cobbles, I just wanted to say I’ve had the most incredible four years.’

‘Growing up here, I’ve made long lasting friendships, learnt so much and I am forever grateful for my time and the storylines I have been given.’

She continued: ‘I’m really looking forward to you guys seeing the future episodes coming up and I can’t think Corrie enough for letting me be a small piece in this beautiful family.’

She closed her post by saying: ‘Kelly Neelan will be a part of my heart always. Thank you all for being so supportive.’

A leaving drinks do was held at The Alchemist on Salford Quays, adjacent to Media City. The bar opened in 2017 and has proven to be a drinks hotspot for revellers and party-goers ever since.

Dozens of other fan favourites from the ITV soap were pictured turning up at the swanky waterside bar, where they stayed for the rest of the emotional evening.

Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan on Corrie, and Alex Bain, who plays Simon Barlow, joined Millie on the way to the venue.

Millie was born in London but was raised in Oldham, just north of Manchester, and was spotted by a talent agency based out of Salford’s Media City before getting her start in acting.

She had previously starred in CBBC series Jamie Johnson before landing the role as Kelly.
