British screen legend Minnie Driver makes another foray into the fantasy genre as the powerful shapeshifter Seanchai for the latest instalment of The Witcher. In Netflix’s new prequel miniseries, Seanchai narrates the series after an altercation with Jaskier (played by Joey Batey), but could she come back for more adventures on The Continent in the mainline series?
Guest star Minnie has revealed she’s more than willing to reprise her fantastical new role in future instalments of The Witcher.
Although she doesn’t participate in Blood Origin’s main action, her character Seanchai plays a pivotal role by saving Jaskier before narrating the untold history of the Witchers’ creation.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Minnie has since revealed she may be reprising her role and could even cross paths with Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill).
“It’s such a gorgeous world,” she said of the hit fantasy franchise.
“I could definitely see, used in the right way, I could definitely see that character coming in and being useful.”
Before her latest screen credit, Minnie was best known for appearing in cult favourites like Good Will Hunting, Grosse Pointe Blank and Phantom of the Opera.
She is also no stranger to the fantasy genre, having dipped her toe into the fairytale worlds of Ella Enchanted and last year’s Cinderella, and lending her voice to Princess Mononoke.
The actress has now taken on some considerably darker fare in The Witcher, which takes place in a magical yet gruelling medieval kingdom.
“It would be a great experience, I’d love to [come back],” Minnie continued. “We’ll see if that works out.”
Minnie went on to explain how Seanchai’s abilities make her the perfect character to slot in for a guest appearance at any point in the timeline.
“It’s a smart character, I think,” she continued. “and to create something that can move between time and worlds means you can really use that to get your story moving.
“It’s cool, maybe, we’ll see!” she added, suggesting no concrete plans to return have been made just yet.
Minnie and the Blood Origin’s creators Lauren Hissrich and Declan De Barra wouldn’t confirm Seanchai’s return outright, but the actress can’t wait for the opportunity to meet more heroes and villains from the Continent.

“Well, I haven’t shared the screen with anyone except Jaskier!” she said.
When asked which character from the main series she’d like to cross paths with, Minnie added: “Geralt, of course.
“I do love all of the characters around Chaos Magic, I’m crazy about the magic.
“But, I’d be really interested in seeing how they’d use the character. What’s the chess piece that can move in any direction? It’s always good to be the Queen!”
As for Blood Origin’s new cast making a comeback, Lauren teased: “The writers’ room for The Witcher has also fallen in love with these characters.
“There are definitely ones that we have been thinking, ‘How could we possibly bring this person back?’”
And Declan added: “If you’re not dead in Blood Origin, then you could be alive anywhere else.”
The Witcher: Blood Origin is available to stream on Netflix.
