The Los Angeles team will face down some returning enemies in this week’s upcoming episode of CBS’s hit NCIS spin-off. While Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) still struggles to balance her family life with her demanding role as an NCIS: LA agent, could her disturbing next case finally push her over the edge and convince her to quit?

Kensi could be forced to make a tough decision over the next few weeks of NCIS: LA.

The action-packed drama has returned for its 14th season, and the team has already faced some huge challenges.

With their long-standing boss Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt) still missing in action, there could be even more dramatic changes to the series line-up yet to come.

In episode three, The Body Stitchers, the agents investigate a series of murders which left the bodies of several victims completely mutilated.

The crimes appear to mirror a similarly gruesome case G Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and his team took on back in season nine.

Kensi may start having serious doubts about her future with the task force after she witnesses some of the worst crime scenes the team has ever encountered.

In the trailer, agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) explains: “They killed these people, dismembered the bodies and sewed them together.”

Both Callen and de facto team leader Admiral Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) are clearly left shaken by the investigation.

The trailer then cuts to Kensi back at headquarters, who is equally disturbed by the sight of the victims.

“It’s the sickest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” she says.

Kensi’s life outside of the NCIS has already started to expand after she and her husband Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) became adoptive parents last season.

After taking young refugee Rosa (Natalia Del Riego) home after a mission on the Mexican border, the agents have been juggling their usual duties with a busy family life.

Their work has become even more demanding since Deeks was promoted from LAPD liaison officer to a fully-fledged NCIS agent in recent years.

As cases become increasingly challenging, Kensi could decide to take some much-deserved time off to take care of the family.

The return of some psychotic former enemies might even convince one or both of the agents to leave the task force for good.

So far, there has been no word from the CBS franchise about any agents taking a leave of absence any time soon.

Daniela is still firmly committed to the series and has even directed another episode which will air in just a few weeks.

Some fans may have been concerned about Hanna’s future with the team after he was conspicuously missing in last week’s episode.

Thankfully, he and Kensi will both be back for the team’s new case, but time will tell if they’re both here to stay.

NCIS: Los Angeles continues Sundays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
