Neighbours’ Mackenzie Hargreaves has been a favourite on TV screens for four years.
The student, played by Georgie Stone, made her Aussie soap debut back in 2019. Since then she’s been involved in several big storylines, including the tragic death of husband Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland).
Throughout her short career, actress Georgie herself has used her spotlight for good. She even made history as the first trans character on Neighbours.

Georgie remained on Neighbours until its finale episode in 2022. But as fans will know, the soap made an epic return to screens this year – and Georgie was back too.
And in episodes this week, Mackenzie is forced to make a big call regarding her personal life. So, as things take a dramatic turn on the soap, Daily Star is taking a look inside her life.
Making history
Aged 10, Georgie became the youngest person in Australia to be granted reversible hormone blockers by the court. Her treatment set a precedent that led to a change in the law around access to hormone treatment for young trans people.
In keeping with the history-making theme, Georgie bagged a role on Neighbours in 2019 playing the soap’s first transgender character. She bagged the role after she wrote a letter to one of the show’s heads honchos in a bid to win a role on the soap.
“I literally had to create this role for myself,” Georgie told HuffPost UK. She went on to explain: “Because there are no roles in Australia. None. I had to write to an executive producer to create a role for me."
Georgie worked with the show's writers and producers for eight months to make sure the elements involved were accurately portrayed.
Famous family
It seems acting might just be in the family as Georgie comes from a long line of established stars. Her mum is Rebekah Robertson, who has appeared on both stage and screen. She even appeared in Neighbours too in 2004 and again in 2021.
While Georgie’s father is Greg Stone. With over 70 productions under his belt, Greg is considered one of Aussie’s finest stage actors. Like his daughter and wife, he has also starred in Neighbours. Greg has also been nominated for over 10 awards throughout his career – bagging four of them.
Netflix fame

In 2022, Georgie released her very own documentary on Netflix. The 30-minute special, called The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone, includes footage that spans over 10 years. The show follows Georgie’s life as a trans activist and documents intimate and heartwarming moments before her operation.
“I'm really proud to be sharing this short documentary about my life growing up as a trans kid in Australia," she wrote on her Instagram, announcing the news of the documentary. She went on: “I've been working on it for the last 8 years with the incredible @mayadonna and it's surreal that it’s finally coming out!
