Nina Warhurst tells BBC co-star ‘I don’t need you anymore’ after announcement

BBC Breakfast star Nina Warhurst assured Jon Kay she doesn't need him anymore after announcing some job news.

The presenter, 42, joined Jon and regular co-host Sally Nugent to share the latest business news, including retail shops which have been forced to close due to the current consumer pressures.

After closing her segment, Sally noted that her co-star has a "really busy" morning because not only is she sharing business updates, she will be discussing her "favourite" subject – Eurovision.

"Yes, yes!," Nina exclaimed, adding: "I'm co-hosting the Eurovision podcast which is the official BBC podcast. I'm going to be on as a guest later on telling you what can you expect from the podcast which is all the behind the scenes gossip."

Nina also revealed Swedish Eurovision presenter and winner Måns Zelmerlöw will be joining her on the podcast.

The mother of two continued: "I am on a mission to convince people, the snearers, because most of my life people have laughed at me for how much I love Eurovision. This is the year that people will realise they have been wrong, for all of these decades!"

After her passionate speech, Jon struggled to keep a straight face as he locked eyes with his co-star before they both started giggling.

Nina laughed: "Jon, you don't look…" before Jon interjected: "No, no! Anybody in that mindset is going to struggle to survive around here."

Sally chimed in: "Jon is like 'Who are you and what have you done with Nina?'"

"She's got these cool new friends," joked Jon before the business correspondent joked: "I don't need you anymore."

Sally added: "She's got a podcast now, she won't even talk to us!"

The presenter then admitted he has already listened to the first episode of the podcast, branding it "great".

"It's fun, it's very different and at the moment things are really challenging, but we need that injection of joy and that's what Eurovision brings," Nina said.
