Noel Fitzpatrick emotional as he shares fresh heartache of losing beloved dog

Noel Fitzpatrick speaks about his late dog

Noel Fitzpatrick explained how his late dog, Keira, is “still here,” as he feels her presence since losing her in 2021.

Keira was a staple part of Noel’s series, The Supervet, and even featured on an episode when he was forced to operate on her when she was hit by a delivery van outside his veterinary practice.

Noel has been open about his grief following the loss of Keira, who was in his life for 14 years. Appearing on Friday’s Lorraine, he described how Keira was “still here,” as he talked about his new book, Keira & Me: A Tale of Two Best Friends and How They Saved Each Other.

Noel stated: “Then it goes from you know, having troubles and tribulations in life right through the light that’s inside me now, she brings to me every single day in my working life.”

“So she might not be here-” Lorraine began.

“She is here, she is,” Noel cut in. “I feel her every single day. She is here, because every operation I go into, every family I see in my consultant room, she’s there because her spirit is with me.

“And I think that’s the amazing thing about love. I say at the end of the book that, ‘When night’s pillow nuzzles back the day, the only light you get to keep is the love you gave away.'”

Irish veterinary surgeon Noel found fame when The Supervet hit screens in 2014 and soon became a household name. The hugely successful Channel 4 show follows the work of Noel as he works on some of the hardest cases to cure in beloved pets others would consider beyond saving.

The moving programme captures the candid emotions from Noel’s veterinary surgery in Surrey. For his vast work, Noel has been regarded as one of the best veterinarians, and in 2009 he became the first to successfully apply an amputation prosthesis to a cat who had lost two feet in an accident.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
