I’m A Celebrity viewers were left shocked to learn former Love Islander Olivia Attwood had left the show after just 24 hours. When the star was made to leave as it was deemed unsafe for her to return, many speculated what the reason could be. Now a close pal of the star has spoken out on why she was made to leave.
On Monday it was revealed Olivia had left the I’m A Celeb camp 24 hours after making her jungle debut.
Although the exact reason is still unknown, a spokesperson for the show confirmed she had been taken away for medical checks and it was then deemed unsafe for her to return.
Many have speculated on her refusal back to camp but a source close to Olivia explained: “The show is very covid safe but the so-called bubble is not the same as it was in Wales last year for the show.”

They added to Mirror Online: “The reports about Covid are not true and not the reason Olivia was forced to leave the jungle.”
The 31-year-old initially left as a precautionary measure after medics were concerned about the results of a health test in camp.
Despite Olivia being contestant on the show, a member of the crew raised concerns following a standard test that all the stars do behind the scenes during the series.
Following further checks with Olivia, ITV decided it would be best to remove her from the show entirely.
At the time of her swift exit, a friend of the reality star stated Olivia was devastated she wasn’t allowed back into camp.
They said: “Olivia was very keen to continue and was gutted when she was told that having left camp for tests she was not going back.
“Her I’m A Celebrity journey was only just beginning and she is devastated.”
Before the line-up of stars headed into the jungle, ITV bosses were extremely strict with Covid rules and made them all isolate for seven days prior along with Covid tests being taken.
At the time of Olivia’s exit on Monday, ITV made no reference to the virus.
In their statement, they said: “As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.
“Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation.
“She has been absolutely brilliant and she’ll be very much missed on the show.”
With Olivia’s departure, two new stars are set to make their way into the I’m A Celeb jungle slightly earlier than when the late arrivals usually arrive.
Comedian Seann Walsh and MP Matt Hancock will be making their debut on the show on Wednesday evening as they embark on their first Bushtucker trail to try and win food for the camp.
I’m A Celebrity continues weekdays on ITV from 9pm.
