Outlander boss teases upheaval in final season 7 episodes and book bombhshell

Maril Davis Teases Outlander Season 7, Part 2

Outlander season seven, part one may have only just seen Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) make it back to Scotland – but there’s plenty more exciting stuff to come in the remaining episodes.

Outlander fans can expect an emotional conclusion to season seven when it returns to screens in 2024, according to the Starz show’s executive producer Maril Davis.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Express US, the veteran Outlander executive shared details on the upcoming episodes from the second block of season seven.

Davis said: “I keep saying, ‘The first half is amazing, the second half is even better’.”

She went on to say: “They say you can’t go home again because things change and think of what Ian has been through since he’s been home.

“It’s been funny, in some ways Jamie and Claire have been away from Lallybroch the amount of time we’ve been working on this show, so it does feel like a full-circle moment for everybody.”

Although Davis couldn’t give specifics about “how much craziness” was going to take place, she teased much “upheaval” in the second half of season seven.

“There’s no character that won’t be touched by things to come in terms of the rollercoaster of emotions and drama.

“There’s quite a bit on the rise for everyone and we’re leaving [season seven, part one] in a crazy place where Jamie and Claire go back to Lallybroch.

“So is Ian. He left potentially this new love back in America, along with his dog. Arch Bug is kind of hanging over his shoulder. The William of it – what’s going to happen to him?”

Adding: “I mean, buckle your seatbelt for the second half, it’s just going to be a wild ride and I’m just super excited for everyone to see it.

“It’s even more emotion than the first half, if you can believe that.”

Davis confirmed season seven, part two would cover the events of the eighth novel in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.

She said when the team was working on season seven, only the first eight novels had been published.

Gabaldon has subsequently published the ninth book Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone and is currently working on the 10th instalment, which is slated by some to be the last one.

Nonetheless, she said if Gabaldon offered up any material from the 10th novel, the writing team would gladly accept it as they planned to round off the show.
