Pete Wicks feeling ‘awkward’ as Im A Celebs Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott reunite

Towie star Pete Wicks has joked that he was left feeling rather "awkward" after flying back to the UK with I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner Sam Thompson.

Moments after arriving back in the UK, Sam, 31, reunited with his girlfriend, former Love Island star Zara McDermott, 26, with Pete, 35, sharing a photo of the moment on his Instagram.

The snap saw Pete standing next to the newly-reunited couple as he held a bunch of the balloons. He followed this with a picture of the old man from the popular Disney film Up, also holding some balloons.

He captioned the photo: "They were reunited…I was awkward [balloon emoji]"

Fans were quick to comment on the snap, with one wriitng: "Brilliant! Bet you felt like a Balloon" as another quipped: "3rd wheeling."

Loose Women panellist Colleen Nolan also commented on the hilarious pic, simplay sharing a string of laughing emojis in the comment section.

Sam was crowned King of the Jungle on Sunday, 10 December after beating fellow finalists Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage and receiving the most public votes.

He's been celebrating his win ever since, and finally returned to social media on Tuesday (12 December) to thank I'm A Celebrity fans ahead of his flight home from Brisbane Airport.

"I'M COMING HOME!!!! I only just got my phone back this morning, and I don't quite know where to begin, but I want to start first of all by saying thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, there aren't quite the words to describe how grateful I am for each and everyone of you who supported me during my time in the jungle," Sam penned.

He added: "You made a young boys dream (now slightly older) come true, and I will never ever forget that."

He went on to say he "didn't know what to expect" when he entered the jungle and was "a bit nervous" but he stopped worrying on "day 2".

Sam also said: "I had no idea of all the support, love and kindness that you all showed me, and reading some of your comments and messages, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude!!!

"Never in my wildest dreams, did I expect to be crowned King of the Jungle, or that I'd get to do CYCLONE! Every time Ant and Dec walked into camp, I convinced myself that it was going to be me that went next."

He signed off his post by saying: "Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!! I have more people to thank, and a couple more soppy posts, but my first thank you had to be to all of you. I Love you."
