Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan finally aired on Wednesday night on Talk TV. The footballer had already caused a stir in the sports world after clips on social media teased the long-awaited interview with the controversial host.

Speaking with Piers, Ronaldo did not hold back from scrutinising Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite the dramatic build-up for the interview, it failed to meet the expected viewership for the prime time slot; bringing a mere 334,000 viewers.

It fell behind BBC Four’s repeat of Secret Life of Farm Animals, which amassed 337,000 in the same slot.

Talk TV has struggled in the ratings since its launch earlier this year, despite millions being invested in the channel.

Earlier this year, the official broadcasting rating agency reported ratings so low, they sometimes failed to register a single viewer.

Piers Morgan Uncensored, the channel’s flagship show saw an 80 percent fall in viewers following its launch in April this year.

The channel hoped Piers would bring in a larger audience, but ratings have continued to plummet, with the host coming under intense scrutiny from viewers and broadcasters alike.

The interview’s poor ratings come after Ant and Dec mocked the host on Instagram Live last night.

Speaking on the social media platform, when a fan said Ronaldo could be in the jungle next year, Ant replied: “I’ll tell you what, the way things are going at Man United, he might be in here next year.

“See you next year Ronaldo!”

Dec added with a grin: “He was interviewed by Piers Morgan, now Piers there is a campmate I would like to see.”

The duo continued their mockery with Dec highlighting: “There’s more people watching this isn’t there?” referring to the social media clip.

With Piers continuing to suffer from crushing ratings and Ronaldo seemingly cutting ties with the Red Devils, an appearance in the jungle next year may well be on the cards for the pair.

Meanwhile, Ant vowed Charlene White would face punishment for breaking I’m A Celebrity rules.

As Deputy Leader, she was expected to sleep in the RV but refused, stating it was because of a “spider”.

As a result, Seann Walsh has slept in a hammock and has been left with back pain.

Ant said: “Why would she not want to sleep in there, it can’t just be because of the spider.

“Is it because you don’t want to sleep next to Matt? Is that it?

“You’ve got to think of the other people that have to then sleep in a hammock because of your actions and then have a bad back.”

He added: “It is against the rules… I think maybe she is and I am going to speak to the producers about it.”
