Popular BBC series axed after six series on screens as celeb host pays tribute to fans | The Sun

A POPULAR BBC show has been axed after six series on screens as its celeb host paid tribute to fans.

The broadcaster has confirmed that comedy show Frankie Boyle's New World Order has been canned.

In a statement a spokesperson for the Beeb said: "We would like to thank Frankie Boyle and all those involved for six great series of New World Order, and we look forward to seeing what he does next on the BBC."

Scottish comedian Frankie immediately took to social media to break his silence following the axe.

The 50-year-old said: "Ah well, there’s to be no more New World Order on the BBC.

"Not surprising in the current climate, I suppose. Just very grateful to have had six series of working with the funniest people in the business."

The show aired on BBC Two and saw Frankie Boyle dissects the week's news with comedians, journalists and his audience.

The final episode of the series aired in December, while the entire final series is available to stream on iPlayer.

Last year Frankie sparked outrage when he made a 'low quality' joke about Holly Willoughby.

He performed a set at Latitude festival last weekend where he joked about 'killing and shooting people', including the This Morning host.
