Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) finally faces the music in EastEnders on Wednesday, April 5, as he’s arrested by Callum Highway (Tony Clay), who’s summoned by his superiors to take the restaurateur away in handcuffs.
The criminal, as viewers know, is a key part of an investigation formerly led by Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), looking into organised crime. Jack, however, was taken off the case when he discovered that Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) was dating Ravi.
Callum, meanwhile, has carried on the investigation, with the copper having previously discovered that Denise Fox (Diane Parish) met with Ravi at a hotel, information which he withheld from Jack.
Denise had contemplated sleeping with Ravi, who made it quite clear that he was interested in her, but she subsequently decided against doing so, instead resolving to stay with her husband.
Ravi hasn’t taken too kindly to rejection and has since blackmailed her into turning over the information Jack has assembled on him as part of the investigation. Denise refused, which is why Ravi turned his attention to her daughter Chelsea, using her to get what he wants instead.
Denise’s near-affair with Ravi was then discovered by her sister Kim (Tameka Empson) earlier this week, which led to her crashing her car with Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) inside
The aftermath of the crash sent shockwaves through the Square, with Denise facing some tense questions from her sister.
Wednesday’s offering of the BBC One soap will see Kim urge Denise to meddle some more in a bid to split Ravi and Chelsea, worried that Chelsea will have her heart broken.
Denise takes such advice on board, confronting Ravi, ordering him to stay away from her daughter, but Ravi again makes it clear that he’s got no intention go doing so, revealing his plot to take things to the next level, which results in Denise making a mysterious phone call.
But to who?
Subsequent scenes will see Callum, who is enjoying a drink with husband Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), receive an urgent call from work, instructing him to arrest Ravi at Walford East.
Elsewhere on the Square during the episode in question, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) tries to convince Freddie (Bobby Brazier) to confront his former teacher Mr Hawthorne for humiliating him while he was a school.
Freddie is reluctant at first, but he ultimately follows through, with Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), Jean and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) on hand to offer support.
EastEnders airs these scenes Wednesday April 5 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
