Rita Ora appears to say thanks Huw during interview

Rita Ora appeared to call Charlie Stayt, Huw Edwards during an awkward moment on BBC Breakfast.

While talking to Charlie about her latest album You & I, she accidentally said “Thanks Huw” instead of “Thank you”.

The pop star was quick to correct herself and swiftly moved on with the discussion.

The BBC host began: “How do you deal with the press interest in your life because your wedding was a whole private thing even though we are talking about it now but…”

“It’s okay we can now because my album was really inspired by it,” Rita chipped in.

Charlie continued: “How do you balance up? You know you’re here doing publicity, this is the world you live in and at the same time you clearly guard your privacy.”

Rita replied: “Yeah, thanks Huw,” before she realising her mistake and added: “Thanks Huw? Thank you for noticing that.”

The moment didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, with many taking to Twitter to comment on the awkward slip-up.

Earlier this week, Huw Edwards’ wife named her husband as the BBC presenter facing allegations over payments for sexually explicit images.

Vicky Flind released a statement on behalf of the BBC star, explaining Huw was in hospital suffering from “serious mental health issues”.

In a statement released to the PA News Agency, Ms. Flind said: “In light of the recent reporting regarding the ‘BBC Presenter’ I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family. I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.

“Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues. As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.

“The events of the last few days have greatly worsened matters, he has suffered another serious episode and is now receiving in-patient hospital care where he’ll stay for the foreseeable future.

“Once well enough to do so, he intends to respond to the stories that have been published. To be clear, Huw was first told that there were allegations being made against him last Thursday.”

She added: “In the circumstances and given Huw’s condition I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and everyone else caught up in these upsetting events is respected. I know that Huw is deeply sorry that so many colleagues have been impacted by the recent media speculation. We hope this statement will bring that to an end.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
