Saturday Kitchen viewers rushed to complain when they saw Matt Tebbutt was missing from the show this weekend (September 3).

TV chef Matt normally hosts the BBC cooking show every week, but he didn't appear in the studio on Saturday. Instead, he was replaced by fellow BBC presenter Alex Jones, who hosts The One Show.

And despite Alex stepping in to save the show, it seems a lot of fans weren't happy about Matt not being in the studio. Fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to share their frustration.

One asked: "Oh God…where's Matt?", with another echoing: "Where's Matt?". One viewer was unhappy that a fellow chef hadn't been drafted in when they commented: "No Matt Tebbut & to compound it not even a Chef standing-in to present it. #SwitchOff #saturdaykitchen".

Another wrote: "Saw Alex Jones and switched #SaturdayKitchen off immediately". A fifth liked Alex but was unhappy that they hadn't asked Saturday Kitchen chef Ollie Smith, who appeared on Saturday's show, to host.

They said: "No offence to Alex Jones, nice lady but Ollie Smith would have been the stand-in host for me this morning – he's done it brilliant before for me". Others didn't understand why viewers were so unhappy about Alex hosting.

Jumping to her defence, they asked: "What on earth has Alex Jones done wrong. The comments here!". Saturday's show saw Love Island narrator Iain Stirling enter the kitchen as a guest.

Also in the studio were TV chefs Ching-He Huang, Theo Randall and Ollie Dabbous. At the start of the show, Iain joked he was going to get drunk and not remember his appearance on it.

Matt himself took to Instagram to share Alex's post confirming she was stepping in for him on Saturday Kitchen. Alongside a snap of her script, she wrote: "You guessed it, Thrilled to be back hosting @saturday.kitchen tomorrow while the brilliant @matt.tebbutt is away."
