MERCEDES McQueen has been dreading it but, this week, Silas Blisset's return to Chester becomes a reality.

The serial killer lurks in the shadows but makes it clear he's up to something. Get the lowdown on the Hollyoaks drama.

1. Silas returns

After Wendy's apparent death, Mercedes McQueen perhaps believed she and her son Bobby were safe from Silas.

This week, however, it dawns on her that the murderer is still creeping up on them.

Coming up on Channel 4, the McQueens are haunted by mysterious notes and Mercedes fears the killer has returned.

Sadly for the former Dog in the Pond landlady played by Jennifer Metcalfe, she won't be finding the support she needs in the village.

2. Mercedes plans to go on the run

Mercedes is on edge, waiting to hear for an update on Silas and she eventually turns to police officer Sam Chen-Williams (Matthew McGivern).

Sam immediately reassures her – Silas has been arrested and she has nothing to fear from him.

She then plans to finish Silas and put an end to his reign of terror in her life but when she sees the serial killer being transported to a police van, she realises he's got one more trick up his sleeve.

An imposter has taken Silas' place.

This prompts Mercedes to go through every option she can think of, in a frantic attempt to protect her family.

Soon enough, Mercedes thinks of doing a runner with Bobby and asks Grace to get her some fake IDs.

Will they really leave Hollyoaks?

3. Leah takes action for DeMarcus

Meanwhile, Leah Barnes (Elá-May Demircan) hasn't forgotten her love interest DeMarcus Westwood, who has been wrongfully accused of Saul Reeves' murder.

Convinced he's innocent, Leah decides to lead a "free DeMarcus campaign."

Later on, Yazz Cunningham (Haiesha Mistry) encourages Leah to continue with her campaign, which escalates into a freedom protest and the Park Café owner gets the blame.

Yazz isn't one to shy away from fighting injustice, however, and she decides to put her life on the line for the campaign.

Will this help DeMarcus?

4. Mason tries to get Ella's attention…

While his half-brother tries to help Mercedes avoid Silas Blissett's wrath, Mason Chen-Williams (Frank Kauer) is heading back to school this week.

The lad is ready to try and get Ella Richardson's (Erin Palmer) after failing to do so with his magic tricks.

Unfortunately, another one of his attempts to impress Ella backfires when he pushes her closer to a reunion with her former boyfriend Charlie Dean.

But Mason is hoping to pick up a few tips from an online forum on dating.

5. … and his behaviour takes a dark turn

Little does the youngster know that the forum he's religiously reading is secretly headed up by radical misogynist Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty).

Soon enough, Mason is influenced by what he's reading and his attitude in school escalates.

During a back-to-school sports day, Mason reaches boiling point and launches a ball at Ella.

Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) chases him into the school and, blinded by rage, punches him.

But the youngster is caught up by Hollyoaks deputy headteacher Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox).

Ella is disgusted by Charlie's actions and makes a huge decision.

6. Ella gets a nasty shock

Despite Mason trying to show her how much he likes her, Ella has only had eyes for Charlie.

But when he suggests they keep their relationship fun, the young girl is convinced he doesn't feel the same way about her.

However, Leah encourages her to send him a selfie – and Ella follows her advice.

The youngster will come to regret her decision this week as her private photos are set to be leaked online following Charlie's altercation with Mason.

Ella is mortified her shots have been posted but Charlie swears he isn't to blame.

Cindy Cunningham is determined to get to the bottom of it and, alongside Nancy, decides that whoever has Charlie's phone must know what happened.

Will the real culprit be outed?

7. Sienna tries to expose Joel

Elsewhere in the village, Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) is adamant on exposing Joel Dexter as the one responsible for Warren Fox's hit and run.

She fills in her half-sister Liberty Savage on her master plan.

But a concerned Liberty turns to Joel and urges him to come clean to his father before Sienna confesses everything for him.

In a symbolic move, Sienna puts her plan in motion on the day Brody would have turned 30 years old.

She invites Warren and Joel to The Dog and reveals the truth, inviting a man who can vouch for her discovery.
