Shayne Ward unrecognisable as he shows off new 'Bridgerton style' hair | The Sun

ACTOR Shayne Ward looked unrecognisable on This Morning with new "Bridgerton style" hair.

The treasured Coronation Street star looked worlds away from his time on the ITV soap during an appearance on daytime telly.

He rose to fame on The X Factor and later became a cobbles heartthrob.

But Shayne, 39, might have been tricky to recognise when he joined presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on the sofa on Tuesday.

He had ditched his usual shaved head had grown a thicker style that he neatly slicked back and tucked behind his ears.

Shayne sat alongside his former Coronation Street co-star Catherine Tyldesley as they discussed their on-screen reunion in new Channel 5 series, The Good Ship Murder.

One said: "Shayne looks so different to his Aidan on Corrie days" while a third suggested: "Could be a double for Bridgerton!"

The X Factor winner joined the cast of Corrie as bad boy Aidan Connor in August 2015 – the half-brother of Carla who owned the factory, Underworld, at the time.

His character quickly became known as a ladies' man, something which came back to haunt him in a complicated love triangle between Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley).

In a typically dramatic conclusion to the storyline, Aidan felt the wrath of Eva as she went "full bunny boiler" on the discovery of his affair with a devious plot to sabotage their wedding day.

He bagged two gongs for Best Newcomer in 2016 – one at the National Television Awards and the other at Inside Soap awards.

But in 2018 his on-screen persona committed suicide in one of the soap's toughest storylines ever.

Aidan's dad Johnny made the tragic discovery in an hour-long episode.

At the time, Coronation Street Producer Kate Oates said: “Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 in this country.
