Sister Wives Kody Brown not the same and felt bitter after three wives left

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown reveals she’s closing her business

Sister Wives star Kody Brown has opened up about his break-ups after his polygamous marriage fell apart.

The TLC star admitted it was “still strange” to adjust to a monogamous marriage to Robyn Brown after his relationships with Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown went south.

The progressive polygamist family was first introduced to screens in 2010 and throughout 18 seasons viewers have witnessed the ups and downs of the dynamics.

While Kody followed his father’s steps set by the Mormon Church, the show captured cracks in the marriages which eventually led to its demise.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the 54-year-old revealed he and Robyn are still “in a deep state of mourning,” due to their polygamous family falling apart.

The father of 18 told the publication: “We are not recovering from this.

“I mean, it’s not clinical depression, but we’ve been a bit depressed about what the experience did. That’s an understatement.”

“But we’ve been through a very hard experience and our reaction to it has changed us,” adding: “We are not the same.”

Following Kody’s first legal and spiritual marriage to Meri in April 1990, Janelle joined the relationship in 1993 with Christine and Kody getting married the following year.

In season one, fans were able to watch his fourth nuptials in season one as the star tied the knot with Janelle in 2010 with a spiritual ceremony.

Janelle then followed suit in October 2022, a jaw-dropping revelation she confirmed in the season 17 Tell-All.

While January 2023 marked Kody and Meri’s split which was announced with a joint statement on Instagram.

Speaking on the collapse of his polygamous marriage, Kody continued: “Moving forward is still one of those things where you go through a divorce.

“You almost feel like God doesn’t exist, and you’re so angry, so bitter, and you’ve just got to let … You need to let some sunshine back in. That’s the thing.”

He stated that he has now reached “a transitionary point” where he’s “letting sunshine back in” and he hopes all of his former wives can find their own happiness.

This seems to be the case for Christine who announced her engagement to David Wooley in April.

Sister Wives seasons 1-18 are available to stream on TLC.
