Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) has set himself a huge challenge in Emmerdale – he’s going to walk down the aisle for his and Rhona Goskirk’s (Zoe Henry) wedding.
We all know Marlon is making huge progress in his recovery following his stroke.
With help from Kit (Thoren Ferguson), Marlon has so far managed to stand using parallel bars and take a step using a walking frame – but he wants to go even further for his wedding.
Tonight, Marlon and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) were looking through wedding magazines and soon enough, topic of conversation turned to best man.
Marlon told a gullible Paddy that because his past marriages haven’t worked, he’s going to ask Billy (Jay Kontzle) to be his best man, as he might have more luck.
Paddy really fell for Marlon’s trick, but he laughed when his mate confessed he was winding him up – of course Marlon wants Paddy to be his best man.
An overexcited Paddy got a bit ahead of himself, telling Marlon he needs to be the best best man ever, and he’ll get the lads together for fast-paced activities such as paintballing.
Paddy felt terrible after, briefly forgetting Marlon isn’t able to take part in paintballing just yet.
It was ultimately this moment that prompted Marlon to make his decision. He told Paddy that Rhona won’t walk down the aisle – he will.
Marlon will tell Rhona to arrive at the wedding venue first and then, in an emotional surprise, he will walk to her, not the other way round.
Marlon and Paddy both agreed – the idea is perfect.
