Many people are struggling to make ends meet these days. If you want evidence of this, look no further than Scarlett (Kia Pegg) and her father, Brian (Simon Lowe). For them, everyday existence has become a daily battle for survival.

This week, Brian heads off for a job interview while Scarlett attempts to get an advance on her pay. She lies, telling Bear (Dex Lee), that the money is needed for a holiday for Brian so he can go and see his sister.

Later, Scarlett attempts to steal some toilet paper from The Mill for their home. Nothing is easy: she struggles to get the massive loo roll into her bag.

Later, Scarlett is very hungry indeed and has a slimming shake, It is the only thing that she can find in the fridge. Later, she spots Brian carrying several large bags of shopping. She is puzzled by this: they are flat broke. Where did he get all the money for that from?

Later, in the week, Scarlett notices her father is in a good mood and after spotting a birthday card on the table, realises that she has forgotten his birthday. Scarlett is determined to ensure they have a good day together.

She immediately arranges for somebody to cover for her at work and together they have a nice afternoon sat by the pond in the park enjoying some food and drink including some cake.

But their worries are far from over.
