Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is a very happy woman in the latest Coronation Street spoiler video, as she contemplates boyfriend Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) moving into the Rovers – little realising that her world is about to come crashing down.
After Stephen’s relationship with Elaine (Paula Wilcox) ended, he felt free to pursue Jenny, the woman he was really interested in and she has lapped it up.
‘Jenny is the apple of his eye, he is insane about her and he can’t believe they have finally got together, this has been a dream of his since they first met,’ Todd Boyce told us.
Now Stephen’s dream has come true, and in the video his bags are in the hallway of the Rovers as Glenda (Jodie Prenger) wonders whether she’ll need earplugs, presumably because of Jenny and Stephen’s potential bedroom shenanigans. While Jenny giggles at that idea, Daisy (Charlotte Jordan)’s face is all our faces at the prospect.
Then Stephen himself appears. ‘Speak of the devil,’ says Daisy, more accurately than she realises given that Stephen is a multiple murderer.
Stephen says he left work early because he has a headache – which was most likely induced by hearing that a dead body had been found on Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges)’s building site. You almost have to feel sorry for Stephen who looks quite queasy at the prospect that at least one of his crimes might be about to be exposed.
Daisy remarks that the police still don’t know who the dead body is. Glenda, however, has information. ‘Through the grapevine I heard it was a woman,’ she says. ‘Poor cow, whoever she was.’
‘Yeah, says Stephen, trying his best to keep his sad face on. ‘It’s a real shame, isn’t it?’
Of course for a killer whose victims so far have all been male, the news that the body is female is nothing but a huge relief.
Sadly for Stephen that relief may only last as long as it takes the aspirin Jenny has offered him to kick in, as it’s not long before Ed confirms that the body was, in fact, male.
And very soon Stephen’s crimes and lies begin to be exposed.
‘The discovery of the body is the beginning of Stephen’s spectacular downfall, which viewers have been desperately waiting for,’ a source told metro.co.uk.
We know that Todd Boyce has already finished filming, and that Stephen’s story is set for a hugely dramatic climax in Super Soap Week in October.
‘There is still a way to go before the end,’ the source warned.
‘Stephen is a desperate man, and with it starting to fall apart, fans aren’t ruling out another kill or two before he is brought down.’
