CBS Cowboys Vs. Jets Scores Most-Watched NFL Week 2 Matchup With Biggest Network Audience Since Super Bowl LVII

It appears CBS came out on top for Week 2 of the NFL regular season.

The broadcaster boasted the most-watched game of the week with the Cowboys’ 30-10 defeat of the New York Jets. The late Sunday afternoon game drew 25.78M viewers, which was the most-watched program on any network since the Super Bowl.

That marks another win for CBS after last week’s game in this window also posted impressive gains, but it’s still down from last year’s record-setting Bengals-Cowboys Week 2 showdown.

In the early game window, CBS managed 16.15M viewers for the Chiefs-Jaguars matchup, up 17% from the same window last year. It was the most-watched Week 2 regional game window since 1998. Overall, CBS averaged 21.15M viewers across its Sunday doubleheader.

Fox’s single header was split regionally across the country. The Packers vs. Falcons was shown in about 42% of markets, while the 49ers vs. Rams took over 18%. Overall, the network averaged about 16.59M viewers, which is comparable to the audience for its Week 1 late Sunday game.

Also on Sunday, NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcast of the Miami Dolphins’ win against the New England Patriots drew 17.86M viewers — down pretty significantly week-over-week.

One day after ABC ordered more Monday Night Football simulcasts, it’s become clear why. Last night’s Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh game shored up 15.4M viewers, which is a hefty increase from the broadcaster’s Week 1 audience.

As for Thursday night, Prime Video saw 15.1M people tune in to watch the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Minnesota Vikings.
