Speaking about joining the glitzy show, Tony said: "To say I’m excited is an understatement – the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes.
"Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t wait to meet my partner – god help her – and start the dancing."
With Strictly Come Dancing announcing the news on their Twitter page, fans were quick to flood the comments section with messages of joy and excitement.
Not only were fans overjoyed at the news, but many pointed out that Tony is the third contestant to sign up for this year's series with the surname Adams.
"That's 3 celebs with the surname Adams this is going to get very confusing. Welcome to the show Tony Adams enjoy the #Strictly experience," noted one fan of the show.
While another echoed: "3 people with the last name Adams," complete with a laughing emoji.
And a third said: "Pleased with this choice. Also given that this is the third contestant with the surname Adams, #Strictly should consider an Addams Family themed group dance to open the show at this rate."
The news of Tony signing up for the dancing competition comes after children's TV presenter, Molly Rainford, 21, was announced this morning.
