Strictly fans baffled over Tess Dalys tin foil outfit as show returns to screens

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left confused with Tess Daly ’s outfit, and questioned if the presenter was wearing tin foil…

The well-loved BBC programme returned to our screens on Friday 23 September after being pushed back a week in the wake of Her Majesty the Queen’s passing.

As it made its debut for the 20th season, Tess appeared in a golden shimmery one-shouldered top paired with high-waist tailored trousers.

With the shimmery-ness of Tess’ top in mind, people have compared the 53 year old’s clothing to that of tin foil.

“Why is Tess wearing a tin foil top may I ask? xo #StrictlyComeDancing”, wrote one viewer.

“Bit early for the tin foil, Tess! #StrictlyComeDancing #SCD2022”, quipped another.

Meanwhile, someone else compared her top to Christmas wrapping paper.

They wrote: “We already got a glimpse of Tess Xmas wrap wardrobe for this season already ha ha”.

Another viewer noted the mum of two’s love of one-shouldered outfits.

“What does Tess Daly have against a pair of sleeves?” they questioned.

“Worrying about Tess dangling that top in the loo when she goes for a wee,” wrote someone else.

Ahead of this season’s launch, Tess gave fans a sneak peek at the opening episode.

Uploading a selfie of herself and Shirley Ballas, she wrote next to it: "SO happy to be back in the ballroom and a huge happy birthday to this gorgeous one @shirleyballas”.

Shirley also shared a snap where she could be seen dressed down in a simple, short black ensemble as she practised some moves in front a mirror ahead of the show's much-anticipated return.

Tess has been presenting the show since 2004, first alongside Bruce Forsyth before he was replaced with current co-presenter Claudia Winkleman.

The 53 year old presenter has seen many celebs waltz and tango across the famous Strictly dancefloor over the years – from politicians to movie stars.

Meanwhile, Shirley has been a judge on the show since 2017 and has returned once again alongside long-time judges Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse.

Shirley previously shared her joy at returning for another series, writing on Instagram: "Absolutely delighted to be asked to judge Strictly Come Dancing 2022.

"I’m appreciative of each and every one of you who has supported my journey since 2017. You make my job joyous and I feel supported. It is the Nations show and I’m delighted to be a small part of it. Hugs love and gratitude to all of you for the support."
