Strictly Come Dancing returned to BBC One this weekend for the quarter-final results show. The show opened with an upbeat number from Guys and Dolls, and one professional dancer in particular stood out. Viewers are now calling for Lauren Oakley to join the main cast in next year’s series.

The results show for Musicals Week had viewers talking on social media as one breakout star stole the show.

Lauren only joined the series this year and she was not paired with a celebrity this time around.

Yet she has continued to shine throughout the group numbers at the start of each show, with Musicals Week being no different.

Fans took to Twitter to call for Lauren to be paired with a celebrity partner in the 2023 series.

@xhorsechestnutx shared: “That was such a cute musicals week pro dance! And Lauren’s great. Give Lauren a partner #strictly.”

@SCDJOWITA exclaimed: “This is my ‘get Lauren Oakley a celeb partner for 2023’ agenda #strictly SUPERSTAR.”

@_erinz_ added: “LOVED that pro number – also, Lauren Oakley is an absolute star, pls give her a partner next year #Strictly.”

@immatthewhi shared: “Lauren is such an incredible dancer! Would love for her to have a celebrity next year! #Strictly.”

@strictlyblog chimed in: “Lauren is giving such stand-out performances on the fringes each week, she’d better get a partner next year! #Strictly.”

@merseytart concluded: “Nobody in #Strictly is working harder than Lauren. She is 100 all the time.”

Lauren, from Birmingham, partnered and toured with Strictly champion Giovanni Pernice and Strictly judge Anton Du Beke earlier this year.

In March 2022 she appeared at Donahey’s Alton Towers Dancing With The Stars Weekend.

The star is Burn The Floor dance captain and world touring dancer, touring South Africa, Australia, China, Europe, North America and Japan during her time at Burn The Floor.

She started dancing when she was just two years old and it was not long before she started competing.

She was Juvenile Champion at the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival, in both ballroom and Latin.

Speaking about joining the Strictly family, she said: “I’ve grown up watching Strictly, always hoping that one day I could be part of the best show on television, doing what I love the most.

“Now that it’s happening, it doesn’t quite seem real. I can’t wait to start this new sequined adventure and join this incredible family.”

The live show was moved to Friday night to accommodate the coverage of the World Cup in Qatar.

Six couples became five as Kym Marsh lost out on a place in the semi-final.

Hamza Yassin remains the favourite to lift the Glitterball Trophy with odds of 4/11, according to BetVictor.

Helen Skelton and Will Mellor are also in the running to be crowned champion.

The remaining five couples will take to the dancefloor next week on Sunday, December 11 at 7.15pm.

The results show will air on Monday, December 12 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
