Strictly Come Dancing viewers criticised the set-up of the opening dance routine of Saturday’s show. Eagle-eyed fans spotted the lack of a live audience for the glitzy Guys and Dolls routine to celebrate the iconic Musicals Week of the competition. Many fans voiced their regret at the format the BBC show opted for.

Fans headed to social media to share their views on the dance, which seemed to contain some manufactured applause.

CourierBoyUK tweeted: “All these intro openers are pre-recorded, notice no audience.”

Trace added: “We really need to go back to filming pro dances with an audience even if they want to continue to pre-record most of them. Falls a bit flat without an audience? #Strictly”

StrictlyComeDanking wrote: “The set is haunted THERE’S NO-ONE WATCHING.”

Thornerg penned: “That audience clapping on #StrictlyComeDancing is starting to get annoying.

“They’re even clapping along to the opening credits now.”

However, Dorina335 praised the dance, saying: “Better pro-dance to Guys and Dolls musical than the one presented as the mash-up for the celebrity dancing comp #Strictly.”

Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu were once again named in the dance-off this week alongside Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima.
