Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left fuming after comedian Ellie Taylor received some “harsh” feedback from the judges following her Rumba. Some accused the BBC judges of performing a “character assassination” on the 38-year-old, who was left tearful following the comments.

Starting with Anton Du Beke, the judges unanimously shared the view that Ellie’s performance wasn’t her strongest.

“I don’t have a lot of fluidity,” Anton remarked. “It makes it just a bit safe when you go from one beautiful position to another beautiful position, and that’s sort of okay in week one or two, but we’re getting on a bit now.”

“I thought it was a little bit stiff, actually,” Craig Revel Horwood commented.

He continued: “It felt like you were just walking around.”

When it came to the scoring, Craig awarded Ellie and her partner Johannes Radebe a disappointing three.

Motsi Mabuse marked the routine as a seven, along with Anton.

Shirley Ballas gave the pair a five. It didn’t take long for outraged viewers to question the low results.

Twitter user @AndrewAndyc0463 wrote: “Wow talk about a character assassination,  just saw it on #Strictly done by Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood, neither have liked Ellie from the show start, that voting destroyed her.”

@kathf19 penned: “3?? That is ridiculous #Strictly #Craig #Ellie.”

@Ric__Robinson pointed out: “According to Craig, Ellie’s rhumba was the same as Tony’s week one tango. Ridiculous scoring #Strictly #SCD2022.”

@spnmaria_amber added: “I’ve seen rumbas far worse than that on #Strictly getting scored higher than a 3… I feel sorry for #Ellie and #Johannes. Sure, it wasn’t perfect but I thought it still looked beautiful. Certainly higher than a 3! #StrictlyComeDancing.”

“Harsh on Ellie T from Craig and Shirley tonight, for me that was her best dance so far. #Ellie #Strictly,” @PeterPontif argued.

@wisebirdswords asked: “What has Craig got against Ellie? (or is it Johannes…?) . Come on @BBCOne – this is supposed to be entertainment – not a grudge fest #StrictlyComeDancing2022 #strictly.”

Currently, cameraman Hamza Yassin and Countryfile star Helen Skelton are the bookies’ favorites to lift the Glitterball this year.

According to the latest betting odds from Ladbrokes, Hamza is priced as the 8/13 frontrunner, with Helen behind at 9/2.

On the other side of the spectrum, it’s bad news for comedian Ellie Taylor, who is as short as 6/4 to exit the competition this week, with Morning Live star Kym Marsh just behind at 3/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “At best it’s now a two-horse race between Hamza Yassin and Helen Skelton for this year’s Glitterball Trophy, with every other name now being 8/1 or bigger.

“As for this weekend’s elimination, the odds suggest Ellie Taylor will be packing her bags and leaving the show.”

Last week, EastEnders star James Bye waved goodbye after being eliminated in Halloween Week.

He and partner Amy Dowden battled it out with Fleur East and Vito Coppola for a place in this week’s show, but the judges unanimously saved Fleur.

“I said this from the begging, all I could do was go out there and do my best,” a gracious James told host Tess Daly.

He added: “I’m dancing against Fleur East! I went out there and I gave it my best, but she is phenomenal.”

Sadly for the radio star, last week was her second dance-off experience.

She found herself in the dreaded position during movie week, but was kept in the competition by the judges, who sent home Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday for the results show at 6.30pm on BBC One.
