Strictly Come Dancing fans believe Ellie Simmonds should make a sensational return to the BBC show after Tony Adams bowed out due to injury. The Paralympian was a hit with viewers and many were shocked after her departure in week seven. Tony avoided a dance-off with Tyler West last Saturday after advice from doctors.

Hauds of passionate Strictly viewers have made their feelings known on who they wished to return to the dancing competition after Tony’s withdrawal.

After his exit on Sunday night’s results show, many flocked to social media to air their hopes for the upcoming return to Blackpool Tower.

@AMArmstrong7 tweeted: “What is going on with Katya and Tony knowing they don’t deserve to be there to give Ellie and Nikita their rightful place back.”

@johnneyred wrote: “Can we have Ellie back as there was no dance-off this week?”

@roselc04 added: “I think we all know Tony Adams did NOT have an injury. Come on @bbcstrictly do you seriously expect us to believe that? He just did the honourable thing and withdrew from the show. Ellie should still be there though.”

@SusanBrown simply shared: “Bring back Ellie.”

@manningh1962 asked the former footballer and his dance partner Katya Jones: “Have you apologised to Ellie S yet?”

However some fans were more measured in their reaction, @jeffiner1892 summarised: “Even if Tony had gone in week 2 all those dancers (except maybe Ellie but she only had a few weeks left in her anyway) would still be out now.”

Ellie, a five-time Paralympic champion also gave her views on the unfortunate exit of the popular former England footballer.

She tweeted to her 106,000 followers: “Tony, you’re an absolute legend.

“You were there for me throughout my Strictly journey, as you have been for everyone.

“You have an incredible aura about you, which puts everyone at ease and makes you feel everything is going to be ok. We all love you so so much.”

Alongside her pro-partner Nikita Kuzmin, Ellie left the competition in week seven of the battle for the Glitterball Trophy, with Tony following her a week later.

An emotional Tony departed the show a week before the long-awaited return to Blackpool Tower.

On Sunday’s show, the charismatic ex-Arsenal man told viewers about the impact Strictly had on him.

He declared to presenter Tess Daley: “I came in here with one message, if you’ve got an issue with mental health then please don’t suffer in silence and reach out for help.”

The emotional footballing legend added: “Little did I know that I was going to learn a lot about myself in the process. I thought this ‘journey’ rubbish was nonsense, but my god the rollercoaster of emotion.

“I’ve got to be honest, it’s tough, physically it’s really tough out there, but dancing is really fantastic for you.”

His dancing pro partner Katya replied: “Tony Adams, I will be forever grateful that I was partnered up with you, do you know what I loved?”

I loved us, I loved that we didn’t care what people thought, we did every single dance our way!”
