Strictly fans say judges need to be reminded of rules as Will is eliminated

Strictly Come Dancing fans reckon the judging panel need to be "reminded of the rules" after they voted to eliminate Will Mellor this week.

The Coronation Street actor was kicked off the BBC show after a dance-off against Fleur East, but some viewers believe the wrong celebrity was sent home.

The panel was split on who to save after Will and his pro partner Nancy Xu repeated their 90s Manchester-inspired routine, and Fleur and Vito Coppola performed their Charleston.

Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood voted to save Fleur and Vito, while Anton Du Beke saved will "due to an error in a dismount from a lift" in his opponents' routine.

That meant the final vote was in the heads of head judge Shirley Ballas, who voted to save Fleur, meaning Will was sent packing.

However fans were not happy with her reasoning, and wondered whether the panel should be reminded of the rules.

Shirley said: "First of all, the British public has spoken and with respect, I take that on board.

"My fellow judges have decided that they don’t agree, so I have made lots of notes here, both couples were outstanding and not only today but through the series.

"I have loved both of them, this is by far, even for me Craig, the most difficult decision I feel I have had to make.

"Based on micro details, I have decided to save Fleur and Vito."

Of course many were excited to see Fleur being sent through to the final, but others were devastated to see Will sent home so close to the end.

They argued that, seeing as the judges' decision is usually based on the "dance-off alone", Shirley should have saved Will.

One said: "Annoyed that only Anton followed the rules for the dance-off. Will's first dance-off and left and Fleur has been in loads and messed up. Wrong decision."

Another said: "Based on the 'dance-off alone' – someone should tell Shirley the rules. Will's timing was perfection, Fleur made mistakes so why did Shirley save Fleur? Anton saw the mistakes, the public saw the mistakes – let's keep it about the dancing please."

A third wrote: "What a joke! Anton was right there was a mistake! So why did they vote Will off?"

Someone else said: "Antont was the only judge who judged the dance-off only. Fleyr did make mistakes."

And a fifth added: "Unbelievable – how can you make a mistake in the dance-off and still go through? Strictly judges you should be ashamed!"
