It Takes Two: Amy Dowden opens up on cancer treatment
Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden made a rare live TV appearance on Wednesday as she chatted to Janette Manrara on It Takes Two.
The 33-year-old revealed her cancer diagnosis shortly before this year’s series began and has been unable to compete in the BBC show.
However, she made a surprise appearance on Saturday night and was back to talk about it on Wednesday’s spin-off show.
The Welsh dancer revealed she would be having more treatment on Thursday as she updated fans on her condition.
“I just felt like I was home and I just missed it so, so much – I just loved being there,” she said as she reflected on Saturday’s show.

“And how is the treatment going?” Janette asked.
Amy replied: “Yeah so I’ve got chemotherapy again tomorrow, session six so I’m over halfway – I can see the finish line.
“But I’m not going to lie, it is tough. But you know, I’m staying strong and positive.
“I just want to raise as much awareness as I possibly can and get everybody to check their chests!”

“Yes, and you are doing such a brilliant job at that,” Janette stated.
She went on: “What does it mean to you to have the Strictly family’s support? Because everyone is just so here for you, you know?”
“Everyone’s been amazing, everybody,” Amy answered. “From the dancers, hair and make-up, wardrobe, every department.
“But I’ve got to give a special shout out to the execs, they’ve been there since my diagnosis in spring and you know, we’ve cried happy tears, sad tears.
“But having them get me involved in the show has just been everything.
“It has helped me on those difficult days to push through.”
Amy went on to thank this year’s couples who have kept up-to-date and wished her the best throughout her journey.
