Strictly: Hamza tells Jowita ‘we did it’

For the fourth time in the competition, wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin found himself topping the leaderboard for his two semi-final routines. Throughout the series, the 32-year-old has received consistently high marks from the judges. Despite there being some criticism last Sunday, his connection with Jowita makes him a firm favourite to win the series.

Taking to the Strictly dance floor on Sunday evening to try and earn a spot in the upcoming final, Hamza and Jowita had to tackle the Waltz and Charleston.

Being given a score of 39 and 37 for his two performances, the cameraman secured the top place on the leaderboard as his combined total came to 76.

Although head judge Shirley Ballas had some slightly less glowing feedback than what he usually receives, the contestant took the comments on board.

Touching on his dance skills, body language expert Dan Stanton believes that Hamza will be crowned this year’s champion.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair, he said: “It was one of the few weeks that Hamza received less than glowing feedback for his performance, with Shirley being especially vocal about him.

“Despite being on the receiving end of some constructive criticism, it did not seem to phase his confidence and he appeared to take it on board.

“In terms of Hamza and Jowita’s performance, they both appeared very tight, with lots of eye contact and reciprocal liking.

“They continuously moved as one person and were in complete unison.

“As we move into the final, I am predicting that Hamza will win the competition.

“Out of all of the contestants, he has the greatest level of connection, communication and rapport with his partner.

“I think Hamza is a firm favourite to win the glitterball trophy next week.”

When the dancing duo finished their final routine, Motsi Mabuse told Tess Daly that Hamza was the man of the night.

Although Shirley added: “I think I’ve given you more 10s than anybody because you have a body that is so musical and highly tuned.

“The music goes in your ear, down through your body and out through your feet so there is much to like about what you did.

“But today, you were a little bit twisted with the left arm-”

However, the live audience strongly disagreed with the feedback as they interrupted her speech by giving her a loud “boo”.

Saying she’s not giving 10s out if it’s not right, she continued: “Your left arm went a little bit too far forward. Your head then got a little bit displaced.

“I would say 90 percent of your footwork was correct but there were some errors I have never seen you make.”

Although she did tell Hamza she believes he deserved a spot in the final.
