Strictlys Katya Jones breaks record as Janette Manrara waves off mistake

It Takes Two host Janette Marara appeared to clear up a mistake made by Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman on Thursday’s episode of the spin-off show (September 28).

The new mum welcomed show stars Nigel Harman and Katya Jones to the sofa and they discussed their sensational win on Saturday’s launch episode. The duo landed an impressive score of eight from all four judges, soaring them to the top of the leaderboard at the final of the episode.

But fans may recall host Claudia telling Katya backstage: “you are top of the leaderboard well done. Katya that’s your highest ever week one score.”

But moments later she can be heard saying: “oh no it’s not…ok” and quickly moved on from the awkward moment. Tonight’s episode of the spin-off appeared to add more confusion to the score, however, as Janette told a proud Katya that she had scored her highest ever first round score – in total contradiction to what Claudia had said.

Fans gushed over Nigel’s epic routine on social media, with judge Craig Revel-Horwood even gushing: "Well, I wouldn't want to be in the competition with you around."

Strictly Come Dancing 2023 welcomed 15 new couples to the floor with Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton Du Beke back in their judging seats. Also stunning fans on the episode was TV anchor Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington. The duo danced a lively cha cha to Shirley Bassey's rendition of Pink's song Get The Party Started.

In their performance, Angela gave a sassy performance in an incredible robe and glitzy dress. The energetic performance ended with Kai grabbing Angela's leg and pulling it all the way into the air.

The pair scored an incredible 28 out of 40, after all four of the judges gave them a 7. Craig Revel Horwood described the performance as "jawdropping" whilst Motsi Mabuse stated: "OMG, can we discuss absolutely everything.

"I mean up there it was giving the vibe 'Do you know who I am' I am Angela Rippon." While presenter Tess Daly jokingly called the contestant "Queen Angela."
