Strictly’s Neil Jones ‘defeated’ and ‘rejected’ as he fails to get celeb partner

Strictly Come Dancing release trailer for new series

Following reports Neil Jones hasn’t been given a celebrity partner for the third year in a row, former professional dancer Vincent Simone said he would be feeling “rejected”.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Neil is currently preparing for the birth of his first child with girlfriend Chyna Mills but will still feel “defeated”.

Vincent explained he understood how Neil would be feeling after he was booted out of the competition in week one.

An early exit for professionals means they are still involved in the show as they perform in group dances but they are “out of the competition”.

Neil’s last celebrity partner was Nina Wadia for series 19, which aired in 2020.

Speaking to GB News, Vincent said: “The fact that you don’t even have the chance to be part of such an amazing competition, it’s not a nice feeling. It feels like a rejection.

“Even though Neil Jones is one of the best guys because he’s the only world champion out of all of them.”

He noted “on paper, [Neil] is the best male dancer” but that doesn’t seem to have impacted the decision-making when it came to pairing up celebrities.

“Imagine how he feels,” Vincent added.

The former professionalisms added Neil is “lovely with the celebrities” commenting: “Unless you’re not really compatible with someone, I wouldn’t see why [he’s left out].”

He concluded: “It’s just a shame because he’s a friend of ours as well.”

It comes after bookmakers predicted Neil would miss out on lifting the Glitterball trophy once more.

Neil was given odds of 25/1 of winning along with Lauren Oakley who has odds of 20/1 and Vito Coppola who has odds of 16/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Our traders reckon it could finally be Dianne Buswell’s year on the dancefloor… we’re anticipating a favourable partnership for the one-time runner-up.”

He added: “It’s bad news for Neil Jones, though, who is the rank outsider of the professionals for the Glitterball Trophy.”

Elsewhere, Dianne Buswell is the favourite to win this year with odds of 6/1 to lift the trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday 16 September at 6.45pm.
