Mad Men is still regarded as one of the greatest television shows of all time.

Set in the 1960s, the US period drama followed the hard-drinking and adulterous Don Draper – a charming marketing executive who works at a company called Sterling Cooper in Manhattan, New York City.

First airing in July 2007, AMC's Mad Men captured the changing cultural scene in the United States during the 1960s and early 1970s as it followed Don and the people in his drama-filled city life.

Since its first episode back in 2007, the hit show went on to enjoy a lengthy run of seven seasons and 92 episodes which spanned almost a decade when it finally wrapped in 2015.

The groundbreaking suited-and-booted series was a huge critical success, racking up a whopping 16 Emmys and 5 Golden Globes, and it has earned a hall-of-fame spot in the so-called Golden Age of Television in the United States.

To mark the famous January Jones – AKA Betty Francis – turning 45, the Daily Star has tracked down the original cast to see where they went after they left the Manhattan-based series.

    Jon Hamm – Don Draper

    • Pirates of the Caribbean cast now – nude leaks, court battle, Katy Perry romance

Jon played the suave-and-suited leading man Don Draper – the chain-smoking advertising executive with a shadowy past.

After beating over 80 other candidates to bag his breakthrough role of Don, Jon shot to international fame and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in 2008 before landing himself a stack of Primetime Emmy and other Golden Globe nominations in the years to follow.

After Mad Men wrapped in 2015, Jon's sparkling success continued as he went on to appear in the 2008 science fiction movie The Day the Earth Stood Still which earned $230million worldwide.

    • Where Scary Movie stars are now – Chris Pratt divorce, Paris Hilton film and hit music

His first leading film role came when he starred in thriller film Stolen (2010), and he's gone on to star as the lead in a handful of films including Million Dollar Arm (2014), Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016) and Beirut (2018).

He's also starred in box office projects like Sucker Punch (2011), Bridesmaids (2011), and Baby Driver (2017).

Jon's also provided his vocal talents for animated films like Shrek Forever After (2010) and Minions (2015).

However, in his personal life he's suffered some health-related struggles as in 2015 his representative confirmed that Hamm had completed in-patient treatment for alcoholism.

Jon also revealed that he developed vitiligo during the filming of Mad Men – a long-term skin disease where patches of skin lose their pigment.

    Elisabeth Moss – Peggy Olson

    • Where The Fast and the Furious original cast is now – Marvel star to tragic death

Elisabeth Moss played Don's secretary Peggy who ends up rising to become a copywriter with her own office as the series progresses.

Moss gained wider recognition as an actor for her time in Mad Men – and a bunch of awards – but she's gone on to enjoy a highly successful career since the show wrapped, too.

A star of the stage, the 38-year-old went on to star in The Heidi Chronicles which opened on Broadway in 2015, and she was nominated for a Tony Award for her role despite the play closing due to low ticket sales.

She then starred in big films such as High-Rise (2015) alongside Tom Hiddleston and Sienna Miller, and Mad to Be Normal (2017) – a biopic of the Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing starring Doctor Who legend, David Tennant.

    • Disney's Kyle Massey charged with 'sending adult material to 13-year-old girl'

Elizabeth has also found success in television and she played Detective Robin Griffin in the BBC miniseries Top of the Lake (2013), and more recently she has gained critical acclaim for her work on The Handmaid's Tale as an actress and producer.

For her time in the Hulu dystopian series, Moss (who plays June Osborne) has won a Primetime Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series.

However, her personal life may surprise some fans as she's a member of Scientology – a controversial religion which also includes other high-profile members such as Tom Cruise.

When a fan questioned whether her role in The Handmaid's Tale made her consider her involvement with the Church of Scientology, Moss took to Instagram to defend her beliefs.

She wrote: "Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me."

    Vincent Kartheiser – Pete Campbell

    • The Royle Family cast now – Gogglebox star, Our Yorkshire Farm and tragic deaths

Vincent, 42, played the young and ambitious account executive Pete Campbell who was always ruthless in his climb to the top despite his lack of experience and judgement.

Plenty will remember Pete's trademark smirk in the series, and his time in the show bagged him six Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and won twice along with his cast in 2009 and 2010.

But many fans will also recognise him from the smash-hit Netflix series The Social Dilemma in 2020 which exposed the disturbing truths behind social media platforms.

    • This is England star made emotional promise to adopt child co-star after tragedy

He's also starred in famous flicks like The Most Hated Woman in America (2017), crime thriller Crypto (2019) and American Hangman (2019), and he provided his voice talents for Rango where he played Ezekiel in 2011.

Despite playing a swanky account executive in Mad Men, Vincent revealed to The Observer in 2010 that he gave up the glam Hollywood life for a life of simple living.

But his love life is star-studded, because he married Gilmore Girls actress Alexis Bledel in 2014 after they began dating halfway through 2012 – and they share a son who was born in 2015.

    January Jones – Betty Francis

    • What happened to Ghostbusters stars – co-star feud, tragic deaths and brutal assault

Gorgeous blonde January Jones played the highly-quotable Betty Francis, Don Draper's ex-wife and mother of their three children.

After having to deal with Don's troublesome ways in Mad Men, January put on her survivor gear to play Melissa Chartres in The Last Man on Earth (2015-2018).

She was also a narrator for the 2015 film Unity, a documentary film which pulled together 100 artists, musicians, actors, athletes and more.

    • Back to the Future cast now – Parkinson’s diagnosis, house fire and suing production company

The blonde beauty previously dated Ashton Kutcher when they were both Abercrombie & Fitch models in the late 1990s, and she also had a relationship with Jim Carrey.

In 2011, she became a first-time mum when she gave birth to a son called Xander, whose father's identity wasn't disclosed.

Interestingly, she's also a fan of unsolved mysteries and believes she saw a real-life UFO – after admitting she believed in aliens to Jimmy Kimmel last year.

She told the tale of when she was in a field in Iowa during her mid 20s and she saw a light in the sky.

"It was definitely a spaceship. Or a shooting star that just couldn’t figure it out."

    Christina Hendricks – Joan Harris

    • Britney Spears claims she's ‘scared of drunk dad Jamie’ in upsetting court speech

Red-haired stunner Christina played Joan Harris, Sterling Cooper's office manager.

When she said goodbye to Mad Men in 2015, Hendricks went on to star in the historical comedy series Another Period from 2015 to 2016, and in the psychological horror film The Neon Demon (2016).

More recently, she's enjoyed starring roles in crime drama Tin Star (2017-2020), Amazon Prime series The Romanoffs where she reunited with Mad Men's creator Matthew Weiner.

    • Britney Spears sobs in court case hearing and slams conservatorship as 'f*****g cruelty'

Many fans will recognise her from her time in Good Girls, which was renewed for a fourth season in 2020, and perhaps even her voice as the villain, Gabby Gabby, in Toy Story 4 (2019).

Sadly, in October 2019 it was announced that Hendricks had separated from her husband Geoffrey Arend, a fellow actor, after 10 years of marriage and they finalised their divorce that year.

    John Slattery – Roger Sterling

    • Blink-182's Mark Hoppus says cancer check-up could 'determine if he lives or dies'

Silver fox John was already a well-established actor before he ever played Don's slick mentor Roger Sterling.

You'll find 58-year-old John in the Oscars' Best Picture-winning biographical film Spotlight (2015), but Marvel fans will know him very well as Howard Stark, as he played the role in Iron Man 2 (2010), Ant-Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

The star also reunited with his former Mad Men co-star Christina Hendricks for two episodes of The Romanoffs in 2018.

He also showed off his French accent as Clause Dumet in the Netflix comedy, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015).

He's still a busy man as he took on a leading role as Paul LeBlanc in neXt (2020) – which was delayed due to the Covid pandemic, and he plays himself in Girls5eva, a musical comedy that premiered in May this year.

    Kiernan Shipka – Sally Draper

    • Meghan Markle 'wants to be a Kardashian' says Real Housewives of Cheshire star

Kiernan played Don and Betty's eldest child Sally Draper who had often had a strained relationship with her mother.

Since growing up on the set of Mad Men, Kiernan has since gained wider fame with her leading role of witch Sabrina Spellman in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

In 2017 she played B.D Hyman, the daughter of Bette Davis, in Feud: Bette and Joan, and she also turned to a cosy Christmas romantic comedy film called Let It Snow (2019).

A star of many genres, the 21-year-old has also worked on horror films and she played a deaf teenager alongside Stanley Tucci in The Silence which came out on Netflix in 2019.

Speaking of her witch-centric role of Sabrina, her director for The Silence, John R. Leonetti, praised her performance as "spellbinding".

He said: "She's acting alongside Stanley Tucci, and believe me, she's more than holding her own. It's been spellbinding watching her."

Aaron Staton – Kenneth "Ken" Cosgrove

    • The Crown actress Gillian Anderson vows to never wear a bra again

Aaron played accounts ace Ken Cosgrove, and when Mad Men finished he went on to play JD in Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2016-2017).

With a string of big projects after his breakout role in Mad Men, he acted as Captain Ronald Dreyfuss in the BBC series, My Mother and Other Strangers (2016).

He then appeared in Castle Rock, Narcos: Mexico (2018), and true crime drama Unbelievable (2019).

Last year, he also ascended to the role of US aviator Wally Schirra in The Right Stuff, an American historical drama which explored the origins of the US space program.

And it is not just film and television roles that have found him success in the industry though, because he was already nominated for a BAFTA award back in 2011 after Mad Men had begun.

Staton had voiced the role of Cole Phelps in the popular video game, L.A. Noire and was put up for Best Performer for his work.

Rich Sommer – Harold "Harry" Crane

Rich played Don's cringeworthy and bespectacled friend Harry Crane, the head of media at the company.

The actor certainly hasn't been short of work following Mad Men though given the big stack of projects he's worked on in the years following the show.

In 2015 he joined his Mad Men co-star John Slattery in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, and he's also played supporting roles on Judd Apatow's series Love (2016-2017), Adventure Time (2016) and Grey's Anatomy.

    • What happened to the My Family cast next – Disney, career change and therapy

And video game fanatics might just recognise Rich from his role as Afghanim on Dota 2 which came out last year, or his multiple roles in Half-Life: Alyx released the same year.

He also starred alongside Aaron Staton in the game L.A. Noire when he took on the role of John Cunningham.

Rich is a massive fan of tabletop games and now hosts the podcast CARDBOARD! about them.

Jessica played Don's stunning wife Megan Draper in the show, introduced in the series as a junior copywriter who could also sing and dance charmingly.

In 2017, she bagged a main role when she sported her military gear in the CBS television series SEAL Team as Amanda Ellis, the team's CIA liason.

She's a mum-of-one and her son Blues Anthony Paré Kastner was born in March 2015.
