Strictlys Shirley Ballas gives major update on her relationship after split rumours

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has been dating boyfriend Danny Taylor for five years, but has now revealed to fans that they have an 'unconventional' relationship.

The 63-year-old met 50-year-old actor Danny in panto but rumours had been doing the rounds recently that the pair had split after Shirley admitted she hadn't seen him in "months".

However, the dancing judge has firmly put speculation to rest and gushed that Danny is "the kindest and nicest man" she's ever met.

Speaking to The Sun, Shirley revealed: "“I think Danny and I have a very nice relationship and he is, by far, the kindest and nicest man that I have met.

“Danny is always busy, just like I am, and has a 13-year-old son."

The star also disclosed that they have a "unique, unconventional relationship" that is "built on trust".

Shirley then went onto explain that it's normal if they go months at a time without seeing each other as it works for them and they're "happy" with the arrangement.

She continued: "I think the last time I saw him was August, when he joined me on my week-long Skyathlon challenge for mental health charity CALM — so it has been a long time.

"I don’t want anybody else and, as far as I know, he doesn’t want anybody else and we talk most days on FaceTime. It is what it is, and I’m happy with the way it is."

Shirley's relationship revelation comes after her comments that she made the 'first move' in her relationship, after meeting the actor back in 2019.

The Queen of Latin first crossed paths with Danny when they were both starring in a Christmas pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk and it wasn't long until romance blossomed between the pair.

And it was all thanks to a small but kind gesture by Shirley – who charmed her co-star with food, explaining: "I’d bring him lemon drinks with honey and I’d make him little sandwiches."

Shirley, who was previously married to ballroom dancer Corky Ballas, was instantly attracted to Danny, branding him "drop-down-dead gorgeous" in a new interview.

“He’s drop-down-dead gorgeous — 6ft 2in with blue eyes and black hair, you know. And he won rear end — oh, what was it, West End rear end of the year! — twice. He’s got the cutest bottom in the industry," she told The Times.
