BBC's The Apprentice candidate Shannon Martin left Lord Alan Sugar speechless as she announced she had made the decision to leave the competition.

Viewers tuned in to the reality game show on Thursday night to witness the male and female teams market luxury Bao Buns to restaurants as well as the general public.

Throughout the episode, the girls managed to land themself a deal with a restaurant worth £400 for a supply of the fluffy food items, as well as selling out at Greenwich Market.

Their hard work paid off, with Lord Sugar revealing that they had been the most successful team and had outsold the boys, who were faced with the agony of one person being sent home.

However, before Lord Sugar could share the good news, bridal boutique owner Shannon announced she'd made the decision to bow out, after just two tasks.

Addressing the businessman, she said: "Lord Sugar, if I may, I've made the difficult decision to leave the process.

"Unfortunately, I just don't feel that this is the environment for me but I just want to say a massive thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity.

"Oh, ok, erm, that's your decision, thank you for coming, I wish you all the best for the future," said a shocked Alan, as Shannon wished her former competitors well.

He went on to add: "Well, that was a bit of a surprise for everybody but I think it's an endorsement of the fact that this is a very tough process.

"Anyway, let's start with the girl's team," before asking Megan how she came about being the manager of the project.

Later on, Rochelle claimed that had the group gone ahead with making 400 Bao Buns, they would not have been successful, but Lord Sugar's advisor, Baroness Karren Brady explained they would have sold all items.

The West Ham chairwoman explained: "Look, Alan, they wanted to order 400 but they ended up making 128," before going on to explain that it was a "shambles in the kitchen."

Speaking about her decision after her exit, Shannon said: "I just really felt like I couldn't focus on the tasks because I was constantly thinking about what was going on at home.

"I'm a perfectionist, I need to know what's going on all the time. Not being able to know how things were going on at home or what was happening at work was really hard for me."

The West Yorkshire-born businesswoman continued: "The unknown is definitely not something I'm good at.

"The more I thought about it, the more I thought, 'Am I in here for the right reasons? Do I really want a business partner?' I knew that I could potentially win the show. Did I really want to win and have my life completely changed?"

She concluded: "No, I didn't, I wasn't in there for the right reasons, the other candidates are just amazing and there are so many amazing businesses. I just felt that there were more deserving people there than me and it was not right for me to stay in the process."
