The Chase quizzer Anne Hegerty has made a bizarre request from a player after an impressive performance by his teammates.
The brainiac, who goes by “The Governess” was seen giving away £19k to players Sharon, Poppy and Steven who all flew through their head to head rounds. As final player Luke prepared to take him turn against Anne, she told him she was desperately hoping “there was at least one idiot on the team” before saying: “please be an idiot.”
Luke burst into hysterics, as both Anne and host Bradley Walsh both agreed Bradley “must be” the idiot on the set. But it didn’t take long for players at home to wonder if Luke had earned the title.

The player landed a whopping £9k in his cash builder round and was offered an enormous fee of £101k for the high offer and £3k for the low offer. Shockingly, he opted for the low offer, leaving some fans slamming his gameplay.
“He is indeed the idiot in the group. My aunt Anne said it,” penned one fan. “Luke, ARE you the idiot in the team?” blasted a second, while a third penned: “I couldn’t live with myself if I took the low offer. Should be ashamed. #TheChase.”
Luke was able to land the £3k bringing their total cash pot to £22. Unfortunately their luck did not continue and the foursome managed to answer just 14 questions correctly in their final chase.
Anne was easily able to catch them with a generous 38 seconds remaining on the clock. Bradley told them: “The wheels came off.” “Such a disappointing final #TheChase I know it’s easy sat on the settee at home, but come on, 4 contestants only answered 14 questions correctly between them,” blasted one fan.

“#thechase probably the most disappointing team ever in the final chase,” saidf a second. A third chimed in: “WTF happened!! OMG 14! Easy for Anne. Good individually but cr*p collectively!” and “Yes Bradley! WOW 14 with 4 of them ! Embarrassing. Anne ate them for breakfast.”
