EASTENDERS stars Perry Fenwick and Danielle Harold play grandad and grandaughter in the BBC soap – but fans will be shocked to know they have a tiny age gap in real life.

Their characters have 37 years between them in the show, but that is not the case in real life.

Perry has played 63-year-old Billy Mitchell in EastEnders since 1998.

The market stall holder's life was turned upside down when his grandaughter Lola, played by Danielle, turned up at the Square 11 years ago when she was just 15.

Lola, who is now 26, is Billy's late son Dan Pearce's daughter.

If you do the maths, the pair have 37 years between them.

However Danielle is actually four years older than her alter-ego, and Perry is three years younger than his character.

This means that they have 30 years between them in real life.

So if we were going off what their real ages are, Billy would have been just 15-years-old when he welcomed his son Dan into the world.

And Dan would have also had to be the same age when he fathered Lola.

Last month it was revealed that Lola is leaving the soap after Danielle was axed from the show.

The Sun exclusively revealed that the single mum will die from a brain tumour in tear-jerking scenes mirroring the real-life death of The Wanted's Tom Parker.

Soap bosses are determined the exit of the popular character will be handled with "grace and care", and have worked alongside a brain tumour charity to create the emotional scripts.

Lola will be seen settling down and falling in love with on-off boyfriend Jay Brown before her cancer takes hold.

An Albert Square insider said: “EastEnders are desperate to make headlines and drive viewing figures with explosive plotlines, and Lola’s exit will have diehard fans in bits.

"It will be a compulsive watch.
