The One Show chaos as Alex Jones apologises over Lewis Capaldi’s swearing

The One Show host Alex Jones was forced to apologise on air after guest Lewis Capaldi swore twice during Friday's (October 14) programme.

The Scottish singer was appearing to perform his chart-topping hit Forget Me.

However, during a chat on the couch with hosts Alex and Roman Kemp, the 26-year-old used two pre-watershed profanities.

After being congratulated on his third UK number one single, Lewis replied: "Yeah, I'm chuffed to b***ery!

"It was nerve-wracking, but it's good to be back, amongst friends, and it's good to be out of the house."

Roman then asked Lewis about the video for Forget Me, which is a remake of Wham's 1983 classic Club Tropicana in which Lewis takes on the role of George Michael.

The Wham video featured Roman's mum Shirlie Kemp and Lewis quickly turned the air blue again while discussing the subject.

Lewis said: "Your mum was in it and she looked b***** good in it, I have to say that!"

That prompted Roman to plead: "Please, please stop!"

A clip from the Forget Me video was then played and Lewis had left the main part of the studio to prepare for his performance once the show returned.

Alex then delivered a statement to camera to apologise to anyone offended by the Someone You Loved singer's language.

She said: "We have got to say a quick sorry about the language. I'm sorry if anyone was offended."

Fans took to social media with split opinions about the star's behaviour, as one wrote: "#lewiscapaldi is the new Shaun Ryder, can’t be trusted on live TV without swearing."

A second commented: "Lewis has only been on one minute and already sworn twice."

However, a third argued: "If you got offended by whatever Lewis Capaldi said then just don't watch TV anymore or go out. Goodness sake he didn't say anything bad I didn't think."
