X Factor star Olly Murs has revealed his “shock” at being axed from The Voice UK after his six-year tenure.
Expressing his feelings about the situation, the 39-year-old singer didn't mince words, confessing that he was "gutted and shocked" by the decision. He was determined not to mislead his fans by claiming it was his choice, stating: “I’m gutted. I got the call last week to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn’t really expect that to come.
“I don’t want to bulls**t my fans or bulls**t people who watch the show, and say, ‘Oh, it was an amicable decision to leave’ — I’ve got lots of things on next year, I can’t do it any more," he told The Sun.

He went to add: “Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it’ll be sore thinking that could have been me”. The unexpected development follows the cancellation of his show, Starstruck, after just two series.
Olly had undoubtedly made his mark during his time on The Voice UK, clinching victory as a mentor twice. Since joining the panel in 2017, he had shared the stage with other prominent artists such as Will.I.Am, Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Meghan Trainor, and Anne-Marie.
ITV, in response to the departure, stated: "The Voice UK returns to ITV1 and ITVX for a brand new series later this year featuring coaches, Sir Tom Jones, Anne-Marie, and Olly Murs. Details of the 2024 series will be confirmed in due course."
Despite this setback, Olly Murs has exciting plans ahead. He was recently announced as the special guest for Take That's upcoming stadium tour, which kicks off in Sheffield in April. The band, consisting of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald, thrilled fans by revealing their new album, This Life, and a new single, Windows. They are eager to showcase their latest music, alongside their beloved Take That classics, on this epic 29-date tour.
