Fans of The Watcher have voiced their frustration at the ending of the eerie Netflix show, which is shockingly based on a true stroy. The unanswered questions at the show’s conclusion infuriated fans across the world who wished to close the chapter on the chilling drama.

The Netflix show followed the tale of a family haunted by a stalker after they move into their dream home.

Throughout the series viewers have been kept in the dark as to the identity of the mysterious creep.

In the last episode, terminally ill character Theodora Birch (Noma Dumezweni) and former resident of their home lied to them and claimed she was behind the anoynymous harrowing letters sent to them.

But fans were not impressed with the show’s finale, Spicy Latina tweeted: “I need Netflix to pay me for my time wasted watching the watcher series, had me the first 2 episode, but the ending was dumb.”

Shane added: “I don’t think there has ever been a worse ending to a show than The Watcher. Just an all time joke of an ending.”

Keerti wrote: “Yes the marketers at Netflix nail it every single day. Would’ve been nice if The Watcher scriptwriters did some work too.”

Everywehere and Nowhere penned: “The ending of the watcher might be hands down the worst ending to any piece of cinema I’ve ever had to see. All the directions they could’ve went and THAT is how they end it? Utterly horrible.”

Jazz declared: “10/10 but I’m mad they didn’t figure out who the watcher was.”

However, Radio X presenter Dan Gasser praised the show, tweeting: “Went into #TheWatcher knowing a lot of people have slated the ending.

“I myself thought the ending was more than ok! Maybe even the one I kinda expected. Definitely watch it.”

Fans who hit out at the ending may not have been aware that the number 1 show on the streaming platform stayed loyal to the anguish of the family it was based on.

Upsettingly, the Broaddus family didn’t find out who was stalking them and still do not know the identity of the spine-chilling Watcher.

The letters written by the unknown sender displayed an obssession with their current property.

Theodore told the family it was her in order to bring some closure to their torment.

In the letters, they wrote: “Dearest new neighbor at 657 Boulevard, allow me to welcome you to the neighborhood.”

“How did you end up here? Did 657 Boulevard call to you with its force within?”

“657 Boulevard has been the subject of my family for decades now and as it approaches its 110th birthday, I have been put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming.”

After moving to their property in Westfield, New Jersey in 2014 Maria and Derek were haunted by the letters sent to their home.

Their neighbour Michael Langford was arrested by police as part of a huge investigation, but he was released as a suspect and the case remains open.

The pair sold the home in 2019 and understandably the property sold for $400,000 less than they bought it for.
