The daughter of late Senator John McCain announced her exit from the ABC daytime talk show in July 2021 and later admitted that it triggered her ‘postpartum anxiety.’
AceShowbiz –Meghan McCain has revealed Joy Behar‘s specific comment that made her quit “The View“. The conservative columnist opened up about the matter in an interview on “The Commentary Magazine Podcast”.
The 37-year-old said her former co-host made the offensive remark after she returned to the show following maternity leave. “I finally went back to the show,” she recalled. “And the day I went back to the show, Joy Behar said on air, ‘Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back.’ “
Joy’s statement was indeed featured in the January 5, 2021 episode. At that time, the 79-year-old interrupted Meghan during the “Hot Topics” segment, prompting Joy to yell, “I was speaking!”
In response, Meghan said, “Joy, you missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. You missed fighting with me.” Disagreeing, Joy replied bluntly, “I did not. I did not miss you. Zero.”
The daughter of late Senator John McCain was offended by Joy’s comment, as she shouted back, “That’s so nasty. That’s so rude.” Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg attempted to stop them from fighting.
Meghan announced her exit from the ABC daytime talk show in July 2021. In her new memoir “Bad Republican”, she admitted that left the show because it triggered her “postpartum anxiety.”
“In my four years there, I was the target of plenty of shade — too much to even begin to recount — and then I also experienced more toxic, direct and purposeful hostility,” Meghan elaborated in her book. Of Whoopi, she said, “She had made a promise to my father that she would look after me, and she kept her word for the first two years that I was on the show.”
“The thing about Whoopi, though, is that she yields so much power in culture and television, and once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table,” she further explained. “I found her open disdain for me more and more difficult to manage as the years went on and it became more frequent.”
