Fans of This Morning are demanding an apology from Vanessa Feltz following her backlash regarding her remarks on coeliac disease.

Earlier this week, the 61-year-old sparked controversy after she was accused of spreading misinformation about the disease while discussing the festive season. When a caller named Alison called in to discuss how she is being "forced to have a gluten-free" Christmas due to her condition.

Vanessa replied: "She’s treating coeliac disease as if it’s a kind of fatal, potentially fatal peanut allergy and that they can’t have anything with gluten in the house. Which is completely unreasonable."

But on Wednesday's programme (December 20), presenter Craig Doyle appeared to briefly mention it again. However the brief remark appeared to only add fuel to fire again as fans commanded Vanessa to apologise on the ITV show.

Taking to X formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: "Has Vanessa apologised on TV for her comments made? Why did Craig have to speak on her behalf? This show is sketchy.

Another viewer said: "Haven't caught #ThisMorning for the last couple of days. Has the programme and/or Vanessa Feltz actually explicitly apologised for the stuff and nonsense she was spouting about coeliac disease?"

A third said: "So Vanessa herself doesn’t apologise nor even acknowledge it." While another asked: "Shouldn't Vanessa apologise?"

But some were more supportive and claimed viewers should get over it. One fan wrote: "Vanessa is a bit subdued today after the whole celiac mess this week. Not sure why Craig had to bring it up again!

"Maybe just not have her on until the new year? Also remember guys, yes she was wrong, but be kind eh! The lady made a mistake. Get over it!"
