Jasmine Jobson rose to fame as drug dealer Jaq in Top Boy, but she’s tackling a hauntingly different role in ITVX thriller Platform 7 – that of a ghost trying to solve her own murder.

The supernatural drama follows teacher Lisa, played by Jasmine, who finds herself stuck at a train station in ghost-form after dying there. When another cataclysmic event happens in the same place, Lisa tries to work out how it’s connected to her death and whether foul play was involved.

“It was very much about trying something new,” Jasmine says. “There’s something about haunting [people] that I was like, ‘Do you know what? I love it!’ So that was the main hook for me.”

The show led fellow star Vera's Rhiannon Clements, who plays Lisa’s best friend Izzy, to discover that her own house had some unwelcome phantom visitors.

“Something I took away from the show is that animals respond to ghosts and are very responsive
to the supernatural,” she says.

“I recently moved into a Victorian house and my dog has started looking and barking into empty spaces, so I’m a little bit unnerved. I do come into the house and say hello to them, so I don’t put any bad vibes out there.”

For Jasmine, one of the biggest challenges was acting like a ghost. “There was something very weird about being a fly on the wall. I had to get used to not having anything to say. I love the sound of my own voice, so not having anything to say was a bit of a shock,” she says.

Getting to wear pyjamas constantly while filming was a big perk, though.

“It was without a doubt one of the coldest jobs I’ve taken because Leeds is freezing, but it was also the comfiest job I’ve ever been on,” she says.

While Lisa gets to work investigating her death in the afterlife, her living best friend Izzy is looking for answers herself. “She’s not happy with letting it lie,” Rhiannon says.

“She thinks there’s something else to be uncovered. And I think it’s a question as to whether a part of that comes from the guilt that she feels from her and Lisa’s relationship at that point before her death. Is everyone telling the truth within the situation?”

As for what Rhiannon should do about her haunted house problem, Jasmine has some ideas. “You need some sage, frankincense and you need to bless your house,” she recommends.

Platform 7 arrives on ITVX on Thursday 7th December.
