Vera: Shane reveals the truth of what he did to his brother
Kenny Doughty, 48, has issued a bittersweet message to Vera fans following his exit from the Brenda Blethyn drama series.
Vera fans were heartbroken to learn Kenny was stepping down from playing DS Aiden Healy ahead of the new set of episodes airing.
But Kenny has taken to social media to share a message with his fans in the wake of his exit news.
Sharing a picture of himself with co-star Brenda, he said the show had picked up a National Television Awards nod.
He wrote ahead of the award show airing: “So proud we have been nominated for an NTA at this year’s awards. And in my final series!! Fingers crossed and good luck to all the nominations! #ntas #fingerscrossed.”

After announcing his Vera exit earlier this year, Kenny said: “After eight years and 35 Vera films I’ve made the difficult decision of handing over DS Healy’s badge.
“I can confirm I am leaving Vera. I want to thank everyone who’s made this amazing time so joyous, ITV, Silverprint, all the brilliant cast and crew and of course my buddy and inspiration Brenda Blethyn.
