Why is Vikings: Valhalla ending after season 3 on Netflix?
After Vikings: Valhalla came out last year, it was quickly given a double renewal.
Season two premiered in January 2023 and the third outing is expected to come out sometime in 2024, although a release date hasn’t been announced.
This is going to be the final ever outing of Vikings: Valhalla with Netflix subscribers speculating the reason behind its cancellation.
But going by showrunner Stuart’s comments, it seems that it was the creators’ intention to have just three outings.

“I hope when the audience gets to see the new season, they’ll be excited by all the new heights that we’ve taken these heroes.
“When we started this project 5 years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying.”

He added: “Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense story-wise for our Leif, Freydis and Harald’s voyages to end with our third season.
“And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history.”
The first two series had release dates earlier on in the year, either in January or February.
It hasn’t been made clear if this will be the case again and seeing as Hollywood has been impacted by the writers and actors strikes, the return date could be later than hoped for.
